Christian Blanchette, Ph.D.

Dr. Christian Blanchette leads a team devoted to quality and innovation in University teaching. With the mandate to develop university strategies and programmes to enrich the learning experience, his team leads initiatives in professional development for faculty members, in creation of learning materials (both in paper-based and digital) and support for the evolution of learning infrastructures on-campus, off-campus and for distributed-learning. From 1993 on, he has been involved in University teaching, in the enrichment of teaching and learning with technology, in learnware development and in research around the pedagogy and use of e-Learning.

Learning Manager of the Institute

Adam Caron, BComm, MA

Member of the board of directors of Canadian eLearning Enterprise Alliance (CeLEA) and on the Executive Committee of the Québec Chapter of the Canadian Society for Training Development (CSTD) Mr. Caron brings his academic and professional expertise from three different domains to the Institute. A degree in Computer Science Technology, a Bachelors of Commerce in Management Information Systems/Adult Education and a Masters of Arts in Educational Technology. Starting his professional career as a database/programmer he quickly moved into the role of a systems analyst then instructional designer. Mr. Caron has now made the transition to management by becoming the Learning Manager of the Institute. Mr. Caron believes that even though change may be difficult, progress needs to be embraced to move forward. If not in the office, you might find him either on the squash courts, slopes or rollerblading the Rideau Canal.

Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Pychyl initiated the facultydevelopment.ca project in the fall of 2001 as part of his Teaching Achievement Award from Carleton University. During his sabbatical (2001-02), he organized the originating members of the facdev group who then worked together to create the facdev.ca project with the support of an Industry Canada CANARIE grant. Dr. Pychyl and Dr. Germain-Rutherford (University of Ottawa) were the principal investigators for this project. Following the CANARIE grant, Dr. Pychyl became the founding Executive Director of the Institute for the Advancement of Teaching in Higher Education (2004). Dr. Pychyl continues his involvement in the Institute as an active member of the Board of Directors representing Carleton University.
