IATHE - Services and Resources

The initial impetus for the creation of the Institute was to further develop the resources of facultydevelopment.ca. However, we soon realized that the collective talents of the individuals who are involved with facultydevelopment.ca (over 1000 individuals from 450 institutions and rapidly expanding) don't have to be limited to the virtual space of the facdev.ca Web site. Consequently, we are offering a number of face-to-face events throughout the year. These services and events feature 3M Teaching Fellows and other award-winning faculty and Educational Development personnel. Costs vary depending on the duration and size of the event, as well as the personnel required to travel, etc.

These are locally hosted events to meet the needs of your faculty and institution.

Colloquia Series

These colloquia are hosted regionally throughout the year. Topics vary depending on the location and host institution. See the Upcoming Events link for details.

Online Course

Introduction to Teaching in Higher Education: Transforming Teaching, Learning and Self has been designed for university and college faculty, sessional lecturers, and graduate students interested in developing their teaching. The course covers a variety of instructional issues and topics, and will expose participants to a broad range of relevant knowledge, skills, and attitudes. All this combined will provide participants with a foundation for lifelong teaching development.

Summer Institutes

IATHE is proud to alliance itself with the University of Ottawa as they host the 6th International Institute for New Faculty Developers (IINFD).

This Institute is designed for individuals who want to become faculty developers or those who are in their first years as full- or part-time faculty or instructional development professionals. Participants may include staff of instructional development programs, teaching and learning centers, those about to be appointed to these positions, and those responsible for organizing, directing, conducting or chairing committees for faculty development activities in a two- or four-year college or university.

Our community has considerable research expertise to offer. Whether you seek to explore issues that impact on student learning or in professional development, we are able to harness like minded researchers who are interested. In addition, many research projects funded by local, provincial and federal grants are underway.
